Program Leaders for Probation Service in Sundsvall
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transports.
The Northern Norrland probation service covers Västernorrland, Västerbotten, and Norrbotten counties and has staffed offices in Luleå, Gällivare, Umeå, and Sundsvall. The probation service conducts personal investigations and supervises clients who are conditionally released, on probation, sentenced to community service, or monitored with the help of electronic tags/intensive supervision. The probation service also works with various treatment programs, in Umeå and Sundsvall also on-site at nearby prisons. Approximately 180 employees and 10 managers work within the Northern Norrland probation service to reduce clients' recidivism and thereby increase safety in society.

We are now looking for two program leaders for the program team at the Probation Service in Sundsvall. The employment begins with a local introduction at the workplace and then a program leader training starting in August 2025. We welcome your application today!
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a program leader, you will be part of a team working with clients in probation and prison. As an important part of the work to prevent recidivism, the probation service in Sundsvall conducts extensive program activities for clients under supervision, both in groups and individually.
The treatment programs are conducted with high quality and according to the principles of evidence-based practice. They are primarily based on cognitive behavioral therapy and social learning theory. We use programs addressing crime, violence, substance abuse, as well as sexual and relationship violence. The assignment is carried out by a highly committed program team with special program leader competence, and it is to this group that we are now seeking new employees. The combined program offering means that you will lead several different programs concurrently, primarily in groups in probation and prison.
In the role of program leader, in addition to leading programs, administrative tasks are also included. As a program leader, you are expected to complete the program leader training included in the assignment. It is important to work actively for good collaboration both with other program leaders and with staff in prisons and within the probation service in the Sundsvall area.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who is calm and controlled in demanding situations. You are secure, stable, and have self-awareness. Since you work in a team and with group programs, good collaboration skills are required. In your work, you are meticulous and make correct assessments and priorities. You have a good understanding of how people absorb knowledge and adapt your way of conveying messages according to the recipient's conditions. You communicate clearly and ensure that messages are received. You must also have a physique that enables you to act physically if the situation requires it.
For us, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in the individual's will and ability to develop. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute with your approach to ensure that everyone is treated equally. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
We are looking for someone who has:
- An academic degree (at least bachelor's level), preferably in behavioral science, law, social work, criminology, or social sciences, or other academic education combined with experience deemed relevant by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.
- A valid driver's license (B).

- Experience in client-facing work in groups.
- Good experience with proven treatment methods, focusing on CBT.
